Samoon inaugurates job fair at ITI Bagh-i-Dilawar Khan

Srinagar, Sept 26: A job Fair was organized today here at Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Bagh-i-Dilawar Khan in which 12 companies and 325 pass outs of the Institute participated for recruitment.

The participating Companies were Jamkash Vehicleads Pvt Limited Hyderpora, ALBA Power Pvt Limited Rangreth, Fungicides India Limited Rangreth, Kashmir Motora MA Road, Stag Trading International Srinagar, Saheb International Hyderpora, Continental Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning Rangreth, Oriental Stores Hari Singh High Street, AMCO Constructions Equipment Pvt Ltd  Rangreth, Alfa Automobiles Karan Nagar, Metfab Pvt Ltd Rangreth and City Infra Ltd Rangreth.

The chief guest, Principal Secretary, School Education and Skill Development Department, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon inaugurated the Job fair in presence of Director, Skill Development, Sajad Hussain Ganai.

Dr Samoon, while addressing the ITI pass outs and the staff, said that the job fair started from Sher-i-Khas ITI of District Srinagar would be extended to all other Districts. He stressed upon introduction of New Age Courses in the ITIs like IoT Technician (Smart City), IoT Technician (Smart Phones), IoT Technician (Smart Agriculture) IoT Technician (Smart Healthcare) Technician Mechatronics, Robotics etc.

He also stressed upon updating the curriculum and the mechanical equipment of the ITIs to produce skilled manpower as per the market demand.

Among others present were Joint Director, Skill Development Kashmir, Farooq Ahmed Khan; Principal ITI Srinagar, Mohammad Ashraf Wani and a large number of students and concerned officials.

KU hands over industry placement letters to 9 students

Job placement letters to students

Srinagar, May 26: Kashmir University’s prestigious Centre for Career Planning and Counseling (CCPC) Wednesday offered job letters to nine more varsity students hired by a leading healthcare firm.

The students from the varsity’s Pharmaceutical Sciences Department have been hired by ‘Fortune 500’ firm for their global life sciences projects and will have to perform their tasks in the work-from-home model for now.

Speaking during an online event, Director CCPC Prof Mohammad Shafi highlighted the activities the Centre has initiated in the domains of coaching and placements.

“Due to the ongoing pandemic situation, both our domains (coaching and placements) have been shifted to digital platforms where our work is going on satisfactorily,” he said.

He said until now, 59 students from the varsity have been placed in three phases: 24 in first phase, 26 in second phase and 09 in third phase.

“Our students have been placed with IQVIA, a reputed healthcare MNC. We look forward to more campus placements which is an ongoing process,” he said.

Prof Shafi urged students to work with dedication and commitment to become brand ambassadors of not only the University of Kashmir but of the entire Union Territory.

“Working with MNCs is an opportunity for great learning and experience,” he said, thanking Vice-Chancellor Prof Talat Ahmad for his continued support to endeavours of the CCPC.

Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at KU Prof Mubashir Masoodi was also present on the occasion.

Congratulating the CCPC team for its efforts to facilitate campus recruitments, Prof Masoodi urged students to face all challenges with seriousness and dedication.

Later, Prof Shafi and Prof Masoodi distributed e-job offer letters among the selectees.

Consultants at CCPC Dr Bilal Ahmad Pandow and Hina Kazmi were also present on the occasion.

Himayat inks MoUs with 3 companies in presence of Secy RDD

Jammu, Jan 28: About 30,000 Himayat trained youth from J&K will get jobs in three MNCs, Secretary Rural Development Department Sheetal Nanda said on Thursday.

The Himayat Mission Management Unit (HMMU) Thursday signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with as many leading companies at Panchayat Bhawan Jammu for placement and industrial tie-ups.

The MoU between Himayat and Multi-National Companies – Sodexo India Services Pvt Ltd, ISS Facility Services India Pvt Ltd and ISS SDB Security Services Pvt Ltd – was signed in presence of Secretary, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Sheetal Nanda, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Kapil Sharma, Vice President and Head HR Operations of ISS and Sodexo respectively.

Sodexo is a leading company offering a bouquet of services to Corporates, Health Care Institutions and Universities while ISS is one of the world’s leading workplace services companies operating in over 74 countries and is a significant player in Facility Management and Professional Services industry in India.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary said, “The objective of these MoUs is to create more opportunities of employment for the youth of J&K who are undergoing training or have completed their training under Himayat. These two leading companies will help the PIAs to understand the requirements and demands of the Corporate sector.” She also stated that these companies have committed to secure placement of as many as 30,000 candidates trained under Himayat.

Earlier, Secretary chaired a meeting to review the performance of 13 Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) of HMMU. She directed the implementing agencies to speed up the training and placement of youth enrolled under Himayat programme. She asked the PIAs to devise a strategy for timely achievement of targets. She stressed that PIAs should reach out to the youth of J&K for providing them with employment opportunities and career in the private sector.

Secretary stressed on expediting the mobilization activities, counselling sessions, filling up of the training centre by 50 per cent following the social distancing norms.

Himayat is Skill Development-cum-Placement programme for unemployed youth especially school and college drop-outs in Jammu and Kashmir with focus on the placement of youth in a befitting manner commensurate with the level of education and aspiration of youth.

The COO highlighted achievements of the programme saying that more than 18000 candidates have been trained while about 7600 have been provided employment in the Corporate sector in various companies.

J&K Bank commences online banking associate test

Srinagar, Jan 1: J&K Bank Banking Associates tests began on Friday at 30 centres established across Jammu and Kashmir.

More than 1.40 lakh aspirants have applied for the recruitment of 1500 Banking Associate posts advertised by the bank. The test – for the recruitment of the clerical staff will be conducted in nine phases across the UT and in the rest of the country – will conclude on January 31, J&K Bank said in a statement.

The exams, held through online mode, are being conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), Mumbai- sponsored by Indian Banks Association, an umbrella organisation of 227 member banks- with technical expertise being facilitated by the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The role of the J&K Bank is solely observatory in nature to ensure smooth conduct of the examinations.

The team of senior J&K Bank officials led by Executive President (EP) Sunil Gupta including President Chetan Paljore, Special Secretary to CMD Karanjit Singh visited many examination centres to take stock of the arrangements.

Executive President expressed satisfaction with the overall arrangement at the centres.

“As already asserted, these examinations are being conducted by IBPS with TCS providing them technical expertise. These examinations are conducted in a fair and transparent manner. J&K Bank is making sure that candidates are provided with proper facilities to take part in the examinations without any problems and I am happy with the way arrangements have been done at the centres for the comfort of the aspirants,” the EP said. The enthusiasm and eagerness to join the J&K Bank, he said, was heartening to see.

“It is a great opportunity for our educated youth to join J&K Bank as 1500 posts have been advertised. It gives us pleasure to see the young generation eager to be part of J&K Bank which strongly indicates their deep emotional connect with the institution,” he said.
