Srinagar, May 30: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir Monday held a digital marketing boot camp for the student innovators and startups of the university.

The daylong intensive boot camp was held by the university’s IDP Cell under the World Bank-ICAR funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project for the institutional development of SKUAST-K.

More than 50 student innovators and startup imitators of SKUAST-K participated in the workshop, who were trained about various aspects of digital marketing across various online platforms.

The workshop was conducted by renowned entrepreneurship development and digital marketing expert Dr Vikas Rajput. He held hands-on training for the students and made them aware with practical examples about digital marketing using various social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google etc.

He guided students with step-by-step procedures for online marketing, ad creation and content writing for successful media campaigns for various products and services.

Dr Divya Rajput, an adjunct faculty at SKUAST-K and a startup and incubation expert working with government institutions and corporate houses across the country also held a session.

OSD to Vice Chancellor, Prof Azmat Alam Khan, who presided over the function, talked about various initiatives for creating a successful innovation and startup ecosystem at the university.

Dr Naveed Hamid Bhat of the IDP conducted the proceedings of the workshop.

ICAI signs MoU with DSEK

Srinagar: Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)  Friday signed an MoU with the Directorate of School  Education, Kashmir (DSEK) for the promotion of CA education in Kashmir.

Committee on Career Counselling of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) with the support of J&K branch of NIRC of ICAI and the Srinagar Representative Office signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Directorate of School  Education, Kashmir (DSEK), Government of Jammu & Kashmir for promoting  Commerce Education amongst Government and Government aided Secondary and Higher Secondary school students, a statement issued by the ICAI Srinagar office said.

The objective of this MOU is to establish mutual Co-operation between both the parties, the ICAI said.

“It is held that DSEK will nominate one representative in each school to coordinate with representatives of Committee on Career Counselling of ICAI for awareness campaign and promotion of Commerce Education more particularly CA Education,” said the statement.

Earlier in the afternoon, an outreach meeting was held at The Lalit Grand Palace, Srinagar and the chief guest for the programme was Dr Tasaduk Hussain, Director, School Education, Kashmir. The ICAI was represented by CA. Hans Raj Chugh, Chairman Committee on Career Counselling, CA. Dr Raj Chawla, Central Council Member, CA. Nakul Saraf, Chairman of J&K branch.

The outreach meeting was attended by a number of principals of government schools (Kashmir) to promote the commerce stream and a presentation was also made wherein Chartered Accountant as a profession was highlighted.  The meet was also attended by Senior members of the Profession.

CA Vikas Purdhani, Vice Chairman of J&K Branch, CA Vineet Kohli, Secretary J&K Branch, CA. Samriti Kohli, Convener  Kashmir CPE Chapter along with a number of Chartered Accountants were also present on the occasion.

Srinagar, Jan 27: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Kashmir commenced a four-week national online training on ‘Computer Vision in Agriculture using Machine Learning’.

More than 50 agriculture students, scholars and teachers from various parts of the country are participating in the online training organised by the team IDP under the World Bank-ICAR funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) for the institutional development of SKUAST-K. The training is being conducted in collaboration with Noida-based Emerging India Analytics, one of India’s fastest growing Analytics/ IT consulting and training companies offering services in both consulting and training domains including NASSCOM certified professional programs. 

The training programme aims to bridge the gap between academics and Industry and produce human resources with qualities for creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship skills. In order to compete and be at par with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, SKUAST-K under ambit of IDP-NAHEP is in the continuous process of imparting education and training about disruptive technologies and their application and impact on the agri-economy and how to improve the quality of life. 

The training will provide insights into the use and application of Computer Vision, and how Machine Learning and computer is helping in solving real-world problems in general and agriculture in particular. 

Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, who was the chief guest at the occasion, said such programs will pave way for the implementation of the 4th industrial revolution in the university, which is presently unfolding and is largely driven by disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics and drones. He also said that SKUAST-Kashmir is the torchbearer by being bold and disruptive in venturing first in AI&ML in the state to permeate higher-order skills of AI & ML in students, researchers and faculty members. While addressing the audience, he stressed the output-based training and workshops that are being conducted in the university. He further added that such programs will create awareness and interest among students and help them to develop critical thinking to innovate and be self-reliant. 

Team IDP-NAHEP, organizers of this training program, in the inaugural session, deliberated about the need and importance of Computer Vision and Machine Learning in Agriculture and allied sectors. Prof Rohitashw Kumar, Associate Dean, CoAE&T, SKUAST-K, provided a detailed overview of the training programs and encouraged participants to take full benefit of this training program. Prof Azmat Alam Khan, Co-PI NAHEP said that such training programs are the need of the hour and also said that such programs will help students to equip themselves with the latest technologies and help them in future to fetch a better job. 

Dr Showkat Rosool, Assistant Professor, CoAE&T, SKUAST-K presented the vote of thanks to all the dignitaries that were present at the inaugural function.

KU’S Economics Deptt lauds Tanveer for securing second rank in IES

Economics Deptt lauds Tanveer

Srinagar,  Aug 1:  Kashmir University’s Department of Economics congratulated it’s alumni Tanveer Ahmad Khan for securing All India Rank-2 in the prestigious Indian Economic Services (IES) 2020.

Tanveer a student of batch 2016 -17 is the first candidate to qualify All India Economic Services Exam, which is an extremely professional service engaging with economic administration and development policy implementation.

Department of Economics is one of the oldest economics departments in North India. “It has a tradition of training extremely talented students and scholars. Remarkably, over the recent past our students have made it to the highest research centres and Universities across India and abroad,” it said in a statement.

“Within J&K our students constitute the majority in Higher Education, Department of Planning as well as in the Subordinate Services.”

In this march towards excellence this rare feat achieved by Khan is going to give a new “big push” to the efforts underway at the department to scale new heights in shaping the future of extremely talented youth, said HOD Economics Department Prof Imtiyaz Ul Haq.
