Srinagar, Jan 05 (KNO): Due to Jammu-Srinagar highway closure amid heavy snowfall, the Divisional Commissioner PK Pole in an official order has asked oil marketing companies (OMCs) to ration petroleum products in Kashmir division.

The highway closure cuts supplies to Kashmir and creates a shortage of essential, particularly petroleum products in the valley.

As per the order, the Div Com has advised the OMCs to issue three litres of petrol to two-wheelers, five litres to three-wheelers and 10 litres to four-wheeler private vehicles. Similarly, the advisory for four wheeler commercial and heavy motor vehicles, including buses and trucks will be allotted 20 litres each.

According to the order LPG cylinder will be issued to consumers only after 21-days against proper acknowledgement.

“In continuation of this office communication No: Divcom/PS/Mise/2021/ 2610-27 dated. 04-01-2021, the instructions are hereby issued for strict adherence by all concerned,” the order states.

However, it does not state how long the order will remain in force. Neither it explains the duration after which a vehicle can refill again.

The order states that all the concerned and line departments must conduct extensive market checking to “crack the whip” on the persons indulging in overcharging and black-marketing.

“The concerned Tehsildar & TSO shall make surprise visits and ensure implementation of these directions and report through concerned deputy commissioner accordingly,” it further states.
