Aglar Fruit Mandi in Shopian to commence work from Sept 7

Shopian, Aug 28: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Choudhary Mohammad Yasin Friday convened a meeting of officers and Fruit Growers Association to take stock of the arrangements put in place to make Aglar Fruit Mandi functional.

During the meeting, a threadbare discussion was held on various issues like installation of street lights, uninterrupted power supply, potable drinking water supply and better road connectivity to the Mandi.

While reviewing the progress of works, the DC directed the executing agencies to gear up the pace of work and fill the gap created due to COVID-19 pandemic and emphasised on pressing additional men and machinery for completion of works within the stipulated time.

The DC on the occasion said that the old Fruit Mandi Arhama will be shifted to Aglar Fruit Mandi on September 7, 2020 and directed the concerned for digging a bore well along with a pump inside the Mandi to fulfill the scarcity of water supply.

He stressed on interdepartmental coordination to execute their respective plans so that the Fruit Growers may not face any kind of inconvenience.

The DDC also directed the police that trailers and non-local vehicles shouldn’t be allowed to enter Aglar Fruit Mandi and proper checking be carried out on a daily basis in this regard.

Executive Officer Municipal Committee Shopian was directed to ensure proper cleanliness in and outside the Mandi and lifting of garbage on daily basis to avoid spread of COVID-19 virus in the Mandi.

The DDC also directed Ex. Er PDD for rapid restoration of transformer and installation of rest of electric poles for better power supply to the Mandi.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sheikh Abdul Aziz, ASP Shopian, DSP Traffic, and other concerned officers and officials attended the meeting besides President Fruit Growers Association was also present in the meeting.
