SKUAST-K holds entrepreneurship sensitisation drive for students

Srinagar, July 10: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Kashmir held a series of online awareness programmes to sensitise students of various faculties on entrepreneurship.
The programme series was conducted by the university’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Cell under ICAR-World Bank funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP).
Students from all the faculties of SKUAST-K participated and listened to the experts of national and international repute, who deliberated in various sessions on entrepreneurial avenues in agricultural & allied sectors. The programme was a pioneering approach towards sensitization of students in entrepreneurship, particularly in their subject domain.
Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Director Panning and Monitoring and PI NAHEP-IDP chaired the inaugural session.
Meanwhile, a three-day online workshop on Exploring Entrepreneurship Development in Silk Industry was jointly organised by Central Silk Board, Union Ministry of Textile, Govt. of India and SKUAST-K’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Cell under ICAR-World Bank funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP).
The programme commenced with an inaugural session chaired by Director Planning & Monitoring SKUAST K, member secretary CSB, Banglore, Director, Tech CSB, Associate Dean COTS Mirgund, Faculty of CSB and team IDP NAHEP SKUAST-K.
The programme deliberated on the overview of the silk industry, challenges and prospectus of sericulture, seri-business opportunities, constraints in the growth of sericulture as well as business opportunities and ventures in mulberry cultivation and silkworm rearing. The technical sessions were deliberated upon by the experts from CSB Banglore, College of Sericulture COTS Mirgund SKUAST K and professionals from the seri-business sector.
At the end of the programme future collaborations between SKUAST-K and Central Silk Board were planned to make sericulture students industry oriented.
