SKUAST-K holds 4-day online workshop on agripreneurship

Srinagar, April 17: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir held a four-day online workshop on innovation and entrepreneurship. 

About 75 students, scholars and faculty members participated in an online workshop, ‘Innovation & Entrepreneurship: Spurring Seeds to Agripreneurship’ organized by the SKUAST-K’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Cell under the ICAR-World Bank funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP).

The workshop was aimed to provide an opportunity for undergraduate and postgraduate students to discuss and explore various opportunities and vistas of innovation and entrepreneurship in agriculture and its allied sectors. 

Banking sector experts, JKEDI officials, agripreneurs, agriculture policymakers and agribusiness consultants from various parts of the country and abroad held various sessions on successful entrepreneurial models, digital rural marketing, state and central government startup schemes, innovation models etc during the four-day workshop. 

Dr Pragathi Gokhale, Director MGIRI, Maharashtra, apprised the students about mobile apps for rural agripreneurship. Qamar Javaid, DGM NABARD for J&K, talked about the various agripreneurship schemes and policies available to students through NABARD. Satyajit Kumar of Mark Agri-Genetics, Mumbai spoke about institutionalizing agriculture through entrepreneurship.

Besides, Prabuddh Mishra, CEO Vanproz; Akthar Ahmad, Assistant Faculty, JKEDI and Rajpal Singh Gandhi, CMD, GVS Biotech held sessions on agripreneurship.  

Director, Planning and Monitoring, SKUAST-K and PI NAHEP, Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai chaired the plenary session, in which participant feedback and recommendation were discussed.
